BASEMENT UPGRADE.

There was a lot going on in this basement project. Due to water damage a french drain was installed before we arrived. The metal studs and bottom track had to be replaced, along with some wiring and insulation. The drywall was patched and finished. Walls and ceiling were painted. The old window unit was replaced with a high-performance Pella unit. A new cement sill was poured to raise outside height. A new window sill, matching shelves and sill suports were built. New A/V units were placed on shelf, with all wires concealed in the walls and ceiling. A 1080 projector was hung from the ceiling. At the fireplace, 2 boxes and a hearth area were framed up to hold new stamped concrete slabs. The stamped concrete slabs weighed 800 pounds for the hearth, to about 250 pounds for the mantle. The box on the right of the fireplace houses a sump pump. A scratch coat of cement was applied before stones were installed and grouted. A wood burning Quada-Fire insert was installed. The HVAC unit was also moved from fireplace ceiling area, to the center of the room. This was done for esthetics, as well as better circulation in the room. The unit outside was also moved. Finally the old carpet was cleaned and reinstalled.
